How do I change Alexa voice to celebrity?

You might remember Amazon casting celebrity voices for Alexa with actor Samuel L. Jackson, but now users have a few more familiar names to use in their Alexa app.

The recorded voices from distinguished celebrities are among Alexa’s best voices, and users now have a larger list of stars to choose from.

The only downside to celebrity voices for Alexa is that most come at an additional price.

Most of the voices available on Alexa are free of cost but you have to pay $4.99 each for Melissa McCarthy and Shaquille O’Neal.

Alexa Celebrity Voices: Which Can You Choose?

Melissa McCarthy and Shaquille O’Neal are the latest celebrity voices added to Alexa database, but they are not the first.

Amazon introduced the Samuel L. Jackson voice a few years ago.

All three of these voices are priced at $4.99, although we’ve seen Samuel L. Jackson’s skill for sale for $1.99 in the past.

In addition to these paid famous stars voices, you can find some free options as well such as of Chef and insult expert Gordon Ramsay.

You just have to command Alexa by saying  Alexa, enable Gordon Ramsay, in the Alexa app on your phone.

How to change Alexa voice?

Switching between Alexa voices is easy. Just say Alexa and then change your voice.

If you have more than one device, Alexa will ask you to specify the device.

Alexa will then answer you with a new voice however, there is only one new voice, so there is no selection menu.

Confirm with your Voice if you want to switch to it permanently. 

If on of your Amazon Echo device doesn’t support this feature, Alexa will say something such as Sorry, your device does not support this.

If you have multiple devices, you have to repeat this process again and again till all our devices are set accordingly.

How to change Alexa's voice using the iPhone or Android app?

You can also change your voice using the Alexa iOS and Android app.

  • Open the Alexa app and go to the Devices Tab.
  • Select Echo and Alexa in the upper left corner.
  • Select the device on which you want to change the voice.
  • Click Settings (gear icon) in the upper right corner.
  • Select Alexa’s Voice And switch to New to enable a new male voice.

How to switch to a celebrity voice?

You can also go for the celebrity voice on Amazon Echo.

These voices won’t answer all of your questions, but they are meant to answer some questions like alarms, timers, jokes, and weather forecasts.

There are two methods to enable celebrity voices for Alexa.

In the forst method, you have to say, Alexa, enable [celebrity name] or Alexa, introduce me to [celebrity name] to one of their Echo speakers, second-generation or newer.

Alexa will provide a short preview using the celebrity’s voice and then provides you the option to initiate a one-time payment of $4.99.

You can also buy celebrity voices from the Amazon website, here’s how.

  • Log in to your Amazon account.
  • You will have the option to choose from the celebrity voice you desire. An option will be given as Press here for Melissa McCarthy, here for Shaquille O’Neal, and here for Samuel L. Jackson.
  • Make sure you have qualified Echo speakers for celebrity voices. 
  • If you see Works with one or more of your Alexa devices, next to a green checkmark, you have a compatible Echo speaker.
  • Click Buy Now with 1 Click.
  • Confirm your purchase if requested.
  • Decide whether you want to enable or disable explicit content when prompted. You can also switch between the two options in the Alexa application.
  • Ask Alexa to introduce you to [celebrity name] to get the required Voice.
